Gigabyte Teases Custom GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming Graphics Card

Hot on the heels of the GTX 1080 launch last Saturday, Gigabyte took the opportunity to tease fans about its upcoming “Xtreme Gaming” variant of the Nvidia GTX 1080 graphics card. Prior to this, Nvidia’s other AIB partners such as Zotac, Galax and Gigabyte have all announced their own “Founders Edition” GTX 1080’s; release dates however were not mentioned.

Gigabyte’s Xtreme Gaming lineup of graphics cards usually consists of high-end Nvidia graphics cards that are custom-built to perform significantly better compared to their respective reference variants. Take for example the Gigabyte GTX 980 Ti WaterForce Xtreme Gaming graphics card; which completely dwarfs the performance of the reference GTX 980 Ti by Nvidia. Knowing this, consumers should expect Gigabyte to release a GTX 1080 that is factory overclocked.

In the midst of Nvidia’s event on Saturday, key specifications of the GTX 1080 was also shown: the graphics card running at a GPU clock of 2144MHz (overclocked); the reference GTX 1080 comes with a boost clock speed of only 1733MHz. Interestingly, folks over at VideoCardz have analysed the GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming silhouette tease by Gigabyte and found that the image resembles that of a GTX 980 Ti Xtreme Gaming WindForce.Image: VideoCardz

Aside from all this, not much is else is known about the Gigabyte GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming aside from a release date sometime in June, which coincidentally also lands during the same time as Computex 2016.
