Game developer Naughty Dog officially launches the first-ever bonus weekend for the multiplayer mode of its action-adventure title Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
Now that Memorial Day weekend has kicked off in the United States, Naughty Dog has decided to treat fans of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End‘s to a bonus weekend event for the game’s multiplayer mode. The whole affair started yesterday and is still going on, as it’s set to run all the way through this coming Tuesday, May 31, at 12:00 PM PT, which should give Uncharted 4 fans plenty of time to take part.
For those unaware, Naughty Dog is offering two in-game bonuses for Uncharted 4 that are somewhat unconventional in terms of the types of rewards other games offer during these kinds of weekend events. Instead of doling out extra XP, for instance, the studio is providing players with a 50 percent Relic bonus on all challenges and a 70 percent discount on all cosmetic item bundles, the latter of which gives fans the opportunity to stock up on the action-adventure release’s vanity objects at relatively inexpensive prices using Uncharted Point microtransactions.
With Uncharted 4 having just released a couple of weeks ago, there’s no telling how often Naughty Dog will put these bonus events into effect. If they become as popular as Grand Theft Auto 5‘s regular weekend functions, then the developers might have Nathan Drake and company sparring in the game’s multiplayer every single week for special in-game offers.
Of course, as many fans are probably aware, Naughty Dog has pretty big DLC plans for Uncharted 4‘s multiplayer to add free maps and modes, while then later incorporating new weapons, boosters, skins, and more, so it’s possible that once the expansion materials drop, bonus weekends will become a standard feature of the game. Naturally, however, with this being the first time an event such as this has occurred within the title, it remains to be seen if it becomes a weekly affair.
At any rate, with Uncharted 4 receiving a successful launch with its first week sales exceeding 2.7 million copies, it’s safe to say that plenty of players are taking part in the game’s multiplayer at the moment. With any luck, since Naughty Dog has previously revealed that Uncharted 4 will potentially become the last game in the series from the studio, developers will be able to extend the life of the title for as long as possible through multiplayer and perhaps single-player DLC.
