Sony’s Xperia X lineup now has a new addition to the family. Previously believed to be the Xperia C6 Ultra, it is now known as the XA Ultra; seems like Sony really is dropping the Xperia C and M series in favour of the new Xperia X branding.
As its name suggests, the Xperia XA Ultra shares similar hardware with the smaller Xperia XA, including the near bezel-less display. The former also has a big 6-inch 1080p display, a MediaTek Helio P10 processor paired with 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot (it can accommodate cards up to 200GB), as well as Android Marshmallow out of the box.
Curiously, despite the fact that the Xperia XA Ultra is a big device, it only has a 2,700mAh battery; devices this size usually has a much more generous battery capacity, such as the Huawei Mate 8and Xiaomi Mi Max. Regardless, Sony still claims that the XA Ultra has up to two days of battery life.
Things get a lot more interesting in the camera department. The rear camera has a 21.5MP sensor with Hybrid Auto-Focus, which is good, but the front-facing camera is the highlight of the XA Ultra. Not only is the front camera a 16MP shooter, it even boasts optical image stabilisation and an LED flash.
The Sony Xperia XA Ultra is set to be available from July onwards in three different colours: White, Black, and Lime Gold. Unfortunately, the retail price of Sony’s new offering has not been revealed yet.
