Pokémon Go Now Accepting Beta Users For Its Field Test in US

Pokémon Go, the mobile app that allows users to experience the virtual world of Pokémon, is now accepting beta users in the United States. The field test which is hosted by the companies behind Pokémon Go – The Pokémon Company and Alphabet’s Niantic Labs – give selected users the opportunity to participate in the development of the augmented reality game.

According to Niantics, beta testers will require either an Android or iOS device to access the field test. Users who are chosen will be required to keep the content within the game confidential, with progress removed before the game’s debut later this year. In fact, Niantic has warned that beta testers will have their progress wiped multiple times during the course of the field test.

Similar to Niantic’s augmented-reality game Ingress, Pokémon Go encourages users to get outdoor to catch various Pokémon. Players can also interact with other Pokémon masters and challenge them to Pokemon Battles – with special challenges to spice it up.

The public release date for the full version of the game is still unavailable, but with the beta version finally underway in the US, it probably won’t be too long.
