MSI Unveils X99A Gaming Pro Carbon Motherboard

MSI has announced its latest gaming motherboard for Intel’s next generation processors just in time for the release of Intel’s upcoming Broadwell-E processors. Dubbed the X99A Gaming Pro Carbon, the motherboard is – according to MSI – built from the ground up, resulting in a completely redesigned heatsink and cover.

Interestingly, MSI’s X99A Gaming Pro Carbon motherboard has a design that almost resembles that of the X99A Godlike Gaming motherboard. Featuring a carbon fibre finish, the motherboard is also equipped with MSI’s “Mystic Light” RGB lightning technology. As with any other motherboard made for Intel’s upcoming Broadwell-E processors, the X99A Gaming Pro Carbon will be equipped with the LGA 2011-v3 socket.

Specification-wise, the X99A Gaming Pro Carbon motherboard comes with four PCIe x16 slots that are secured using MSI’s “Steel Armour” technology as well as two PCIe x1 slots; the motherboard has eight DDR4 RAM slots as well. In addition, MSI’s X99A Gaming Pro Carbon motherboard will also ship with one “Turbo” M.2 and U.2 slot (32Gbps), eight SATA drive slots, and two SATA express slots.

I/O ports include two USB 3.1 Type-C ports; one USB 3.1 Type-A ports; eight USB 3.1 ports and USB 2.0 ports each. Audio is conveyed through an 8-channel (7.1) HD Audio sound card. Of course, not forgetting the support for a three-way SLI and CrossFire configurations.

When made available, the MSI X99A Gaming Pro Carbon motherboard will retail for a price of US$330. More information regarding the X99A Gaming Pro Carbon motherboard can be found here.
