Microsoft Reminds Everyone To Upgrade To Windows 10 Before July

Microsoft’s offer for a free upgrade to Windows 10 expires on 29 July, and the company wants everyone to know that. As an extra incentive to grab the upgrade, the Windows blog has also revealed the price of Windows 10 Home edition: $119 (about RM480).

Windows 10 has been available as a free upgrade since it was launched last July, a situation that Microsoft said would last for the first year of the product. After the time period, users would have to buy the operating system separately to obtain it. Naturally, there are some conditions to be met in order to quality for the free upgrade; like being on either Windows 7 or 8.

For now, the strategy seems to be working. Windows 10 has managed a health market share with people taking advantage of the offer. And Microsoft looks to be making one last marketing push to get people to upgrade.

In addition to posting the notice to the Windows blog, Microsoft has also released a new video featuring Microsoft’s fedora guy Brian Roper. As usual, Roper is there to provide reasons for why people should be upgrading their operating systems.

Microsoft’s reminder for the masses has been met with mixed reactions. Some users are still unwilling to upgrade to Windows 10, preferring to remain with a more familiar OS. Others are simply happy that the upgrade reminder on their computers is finally going to go away.
