Google will Soon Show Ads on Google Maps

It looks like Google will soon start putting ads on Google Maps. On a blog post about “ads and analytics innovations for a mobile-first world”, the company states that they are working on helping advertisers reach consumers based on locations, which is why they are introducing new local search ads across Google.com and Google Maps.

Google says that they are experimenting with various ad formats to help “make it easier for users to find businesses as they navigate the world around them”. One of the ad formats is called “promoted pins” that will show nearby coffee shops, gas stations or lunch spots from paid advertisers. If you search for a venue on Google Maps like “coffee shop near me”, a paid ad could be featured on your search results list, and is indicated by a small purple logo that says “Ad”.

On top of new ads, Google also says that they are giving local business pages a brand new look. There will be new features like special offers and the ability to browse product inventory, so if you are a business owner and wish to reach out to more consumers, you might want to check out Google’s latest announcement.
