OxygenOS 2.2.1 security update lands for the OnePlus X

oneplus x first 48 hours aa (31 of 33)
OnePlus is rolling out a new version of its OxygenOS for the Oneplus X today. Version 2.2.1, as the update is known, contains a host of bug fixes and some important security patches, but sadly there’s still no Android Marshmallow in sight for this plucky mid-ranger.

Oxygen OS 2.2.1 for the OnePlus X packs in an unspecified Android security patch. This hopefully includes the latest fixes from Google, but failing that the phone should now at least be as up to date as the March patch.

OnePlus has also fixed a number of issues that have been bugging handset owners. These include a fix for a data leak while roaming experienced in some regions, no more microphone auto mute issues when using Google Hangouts, and a fix for when the app drawer wouldn’t launch if the Google search bar was hidden, along with some other miscellaneous fixes. On top of that, there’s a Google Mobile Service 3.0 upgrade and an APN update to support the carrier Tigo.

As is always the case, the update will roll-out gradually across various countries and regions over the next few weeks. So just sit tight and wait for that OTA notification.
