Leak: Nvidia’s Pascal GP100-400 GPU Pictured In Detail; Features GDDR5X Memory

Nvidia’s upcoming 16nm Pascal GP10-400 GPU has been leaked and pictured in detail. The GP100-400 GPU is rumoured to be coming with the Pascal-based replacement for the GTX 980 Ti, which is currently using the Maxwell GM200 GPU. A few weeks ago, there were rumours saying that Nvidia is currently preparing three graphics cards based on the Pascal GP104 GPU.

This recent leak is rather interesting because it further proves the fact that Nvidia will indeed be using Micron’s latest GDDR5X memory standard in its upcoming high-end Pascal-based graphics cards. However, GDDR5X may only be paired with Nvidia’s most powerful consumer-grade (non-Titan) graphics cards; other graphics card may only utilise GDDR5 instead.

A thorough investigation done by folks at VideoCardz discovered that the leaked image of the GP104-400 GPU along with its PCB do not align with that of Nvidia’s reference GTX 980 board. Instead, it is theorised that the PCB containing the Pascal GP104-400 GPU is in fact from an MSI variant of a Pascal-based graphics card. Take this one with plenty of salt.Image: VideoCardz

If indeed both rumours are to be believed, consumers should expect to see an unveiling Pascal-based graphics card very soon. Regardless, it’s safe to say that aside from a Titan X successor, HBM2 will not be coming to consumer-grade graphics cards any time soon, bummer.
