Dark Souls 3 PC Visual Upgrade Over PS4 Version Minimal But PC Performance Significantly Increased

While the visual differences between Dark Souls 3 PC and PS4 are minimal, this doesn’t apply to the game’s performance. The performance of the PC version of Dark Souls 3 is “significantly increased” over its PS4 counterpart.

Dark Souls 3 is scheduled for a release tomorrow, but Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry managed to perform a visual and performance comparison between the PC and PS4 version of the game.

Check out Digital Foundry’s analyses down below;

PC offers the best way to play Dark Souls 3 – graphics upgrades over consoles are minimal, but the gameplay experience is significantly enhanced.

According to the comparison, the PC version doesn’t show that much of an upgrade compared to the PS4 version when it comes to graphic quality. Lighting and models on PS4 are identical to a PC running on high settings, and those who are expecting a “radical overhaul” on the game’s visual part, might be disappointed.

While visuals don’t show that much of a difference between both platforms, this can’t be said of the game’s performance. While the PS4 version runs at 30FPS, the PC version targets 60FPS in this comparison. According to Digital Foundry, it’s hard to go back to playing the game on PS4 once you’ve played the PC version due to its much smoother gameplay.

Dark Souls 3 was officially announced for PC, PS4, and Xbox One back in June last year.

“The DARK SOULS brand became a phenomenon thanks to amazing work from our dear partners FromSoftware and our very own BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment teams”. said Herve Hoerdt, Vice President of Marketing & Digital at BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe. “But above all, we are blessed to have such a supportive and loving community, and we are happy to dedicate this final episode to them!”

As said, Dark Souls 3 is out tomorrow for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. If you want to know whether Dark Souls 3 is worth your bucks, check out our review.
