10,000 Copies Of Uncharted 4 Reportedly Stolen While In Transit

Sony Interactive Entertainment has pubicly acknowledged that “a number” of copies of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End were stolen while in transit to a UK retailer. President Shuhei Yoshida made a statement on the PlayStation blog, urging fans to avoid buying the stolen copies to avoid spoilers.

This is particularly important as the stolen games have already been spotted on eBay, with a price of GBP 99.99 (about RM569). The listing has been removed, but the seller had originally described the game as being available for shipping.

British gaming news site Eurogamer managed to get in touch with the seller to find out how he managed to get advance copies of the unreleased game. It was told that some 10,000 copies of Uncharted 4 were seized by HM Revenue & Customs for unpaid VAT; and that the government were no selling the games.

The supposed number of stolen copies of the next Uncharted game is suspiciously high, making it difficult to believe. However, if this many games really were stolen, we would like to imagine it was done by hijacking a trailer with expensive supercars.

Uncharted 4 is due for release on 10 May, with fans chomping at the bit to get their hands on the title. The stolen copies of the games may result in early spoilers floating around the internet, but dedicated fans will know to avoid such things.
